What is Follow My Bag?

Follow My Bag is a plastic luggage identification tag.

How does Follow My Bag work?

Each Follow My Bag tag has a unique serial code printed on it as well as the website address www.followmybag.com. The personal details of registered tag holders are stored on the Follow My Bag database. Through access to a restricted area of the site, registered users can at any time insert and modify personal data (personal details, travel itinerary, flight numbers, accommodation addresses, photo and description of luggage). The finder of a lost item bearing a Follow My Bag tag can access the information made available by the owner of the luggage by visiting www.followmybag.com as instructed on the tag and entering where indicated the unique code printed on the tag. Registered users can also choose not to publish any of their personal details. In this instance, once those in possession of a lost item have logged in to the website by entering the code on the tag, they will automatically be sent an online form for completion. Once this form has been filled out, the system notifies the owner via e-mail and/or SMS with information regarding the location of the item, instructions and contact details necessary for the recovery of the lost baggage.

How much does a Follow My Bag tag cost?

A tag costs € 15 plus 1 &euro: for shipping (shipping on all Italian territory is free). The price includes the cost of the tag and a twelve month subscription to the service.

Does a Follow My Bag tag expire?

The period of subscription to the service for each tag is twelve months from the date of activation. When this twelve month period is over the tag must be renewed if you wish to continue using the service.

How do I renew my tag?

Renewals can be purchased from the shop section of www.followmybag.com. The subscription is not automatically renewed by tacit agreement.

How much does it cost to renew a tag?

Renewal of a tag for a further twelve months costs € 12.

How many times can I use a tag?

Within the subscription period you can use the tag as much as you like without limitation.

What happens if I don't renew my tag?

Users, once registered, can still access their account even if their tag has expired, however the tag code will no longer be recognized by the system and therefore the user will not be able to make use of the service.

Do I have to continually renew my tag?

If you think you will not make use of your tag for an extended period of time you can simply choose not to renew it until you need it again. Renewal can be done at any time.

From when does my twelve-month subscription start?

The first twelve-month subscription starts from the date of registration and activation of the tag, regardless of purchase date. Renewal can be carried out at any time, if done before the end of the twelve month period the new term will not begin until the expiry date has been reached, if done after the tag has already expired, renewal will be effected immediately and the new twelve month period will commence from the date of renewal.

How many tags can one user have?

There is no limit to the number of tags a user can possess. If for example a user travels with two suitcases, s/he will obviously need two tags.

If I buy a new tag do I have to re-register to activate it?

Users can possess more than one tag and manage all of them using a single account. After the first registration, a user can access his or her account and simply activate a new tag without having to re-register. The registration process creates a new user account with different login information, so unless this is what the member wishes, no re-registration is necessary.

Can a tag be used by more than one person?

Each tag corresponds to a single name and the name and surname under which the tag is registered cannot be changed. If a tag is being used by someone other than the rightful owner problems regarding identity can arise in the event of loss.

My wife and I always travel together with two suitcases. We bought two tags, do we need to create two separate accounts?

The creation of two separate accounts would be advisable as this allows for different schedules, details and so on. However, if you always travel together, assuming the destination and contact details for both are the same, you could simply opt for one account with two associated tags.

What is a 'Company' tag?

Unlike a Personal tag, a 'Company' tag allows the owner to assign the tag to other people besides him or herself. The person who has been assigned the tag becomes the user and temporarily has control over management of the tag, until such a time as the owner decides to assign the tag to somebody else. While in use, only details relating to the current user will be accessible on the system. The owner of the tag can only decide who to assign the tag to. Of course the owner can also assign the tag to him or herself, therefore becoming the user (as well as the owner).

Who can benefit from a 'Company' tag?

This option is designed for companies that wish to provide their employees with the Follow My Bag service. The multi-user tag can only be purchased as part of a pack containing a minimum of five tags.

How does the registration process and assignment of a 'Company' tag work?

After purchase and receipt of the tag the owner must register. Once an account is created the owner can keep adding as many tags as necessary to that account. Existing Follow My Bag members simply have to login and add the new tag to their account. Once the owner has registered, s/he can then assign the tag to another person. The person who is entrusted with the tag must then register it (or if already a member simply add it). The first registration of the tag designates the owner (permanent). The second registration designates the user (temporary). To reassign the tag the owner must release the tag from its current user and entrust it to a new one (who must then register it). The tag can be released and reassigned as many times and to as many users as necessary.

Can I buy a Follow My Bag Tag as a gift?

Yes. The user-owner of a tag can be different from the person who purchased it. The tag belongs to the person who registers it and the period of subscription starts from the date of registration not the date of purchase.

I was gifted a Follow My Bag tag, do I have to pay in order to register and use it?

No, the tag has already been paid for by the purchaser. Registration is free and the use of services related to the tag are unlimited within the first twelve-month subscription term. Subsequently the tag needs to be renewed.

How do I know when my tag expires?

This information can be found in your account details and you will also receive notification near the end of the twelve-month subscription term.

How much is the shipping cost?

The cost of postage and packaging is 1 €. Postage within Italy is free.

How long will it take for my tag to arrive after purchase?

Delivery times for the EU are estimated to be about 5 working days from the date of dispatch. Tags will be posted no later than two working days from the date of purchase.

What happens if I lose a tag or if a tag gets damaged?

If a tag gets lost or damaged you should report it by writing to shop@followmybag.com. The tag will then be invalidated and a new one will be sent to you.

What should I do if I have not received a tag that I purchased?

If you do not receive your tag please report the matter to Follow My bag by writing to shop@followmybag.com. The tag that was previously dispatched will then be invalidated and you can request either a new tag or a full refund.
